Very Welcome! I originate from Far North Queensland so Lexington was a very important ship for me since the Coral Sea battle was a key moment for us in history.
I’m curious, did you have to mix Tamiya acrylics for the Hull color or did you have a match for it out of the bottle?
Now if only an injection kit manufacturer would do Langley, Ranger and a Midway…
Great question, Andrew. I found Tamiya XF-18 (Medium Blue) to be a close enough match for me. I have a confession to make, though: I’m colorblind! (well, color-deficient, really). I have a tough time distinguishing between similar shades of the same color, so I usually use an annoying method of sampling a color’s hexadecimal code in a photo editor then converting that into the nearest available match. That, combined with the fact that no colorized WWII images are ever going to be exactly accurate, made XF-18 good enough for me.
